The hospital is seeking to employ a Senior Medical Consultant in Breast and Endocrine Surgery. As a Senior Consultant (Overlege) in Breast and Endocrine Surgery at Sørlandet Hospital in Kristiansand, you will join an established clinical team with responsibility for the diagnosis, surgical treatment and follow-up of patients within breast, endocrine and melanoma surgery.

The role involves independent clinical responsibility, both in outpatient services and in the operating theatre. The workday is predictable with no on-call duties, based on well-defined patient pathways and close interdisciplinary collaboration.

The Breast and Endocrine Surgery section is responsible for surgical care and follow-up of patients with breast cancer, endocrine surgical conditions, and malignant melanoma. In 2024, the section conducted approximately 5 400 outpatient consultations, 270 day treatments and 200 inpatient procedures.

The section has stable staffing with resident doctors (LIS2/3) and well-functioning support structures, ensuring consistent operational quality and high professional standards. Work is organised around established clinical pathways with regular multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and collaboration with other surgical units. Some breast surgery is performed in cooperation with the Plastic Surgery Unit in Arendal, where primary breast reconstructions are carried out during the same procedure and day.
