Are you passionate about great food, craft beer, and creating memorable experiences? Lervig Local, Lervig’s flagship taproom and microbrewery in Stavanger, is looking for a new Head Chefto join our team.
What You’ll Do
• Kitchen Management:
• Supervise and coordinate all kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations during service and maximize use of downtime for preparation of food and maintaining overall kitchen cleanliness.
• Work with management to develop and maintain staff schedules to meet operational needs.
• In the event of sickness or absence of kitchen staff, the Head Chef is required to fulfill shift obligations as necessary to ensure smooth operations.
• Menu Development:
• Design and implement creative menus that highlight fresh, seasonal ingredients and pair exceptionally well with our in-house brews.
• Regularly update the menu to reflect customer preferences and seasonal ingredients, while accommodating potential changes in menu concepts as our culinary vision evolves, working closely with management to ensure alignment with the overall direction of the establishment.
• Procurement and Inventory:
• Maintain the ordering and receiving of goods needed for the kitchen, ensuring high-quality ingredients are procured within budget.
• Monitor inventory levels, minimize waste, and ensure efficient stock management, including conducting monthly inventory counts.
• Work with management on food cost calculations
• Quality Control:
• Ensure that all dishes meet high standards of presentation, taste, and consistency that align with a high-end yet informal establishment.
• Enforce food safety and hygiene regulations to maintain compliance with Norwegian health standards.
• Actively ensure the kitchen maintains a high-level of cleanliness, maintaining our 100% pass on health inspections.
• Team Leadership:
• Train kitchen staff thoroughly to ensure they meet the highest standards of skill and efficiency.
• Motivate and prepare kitchen staff to excel, fostering a collaborative and supportive relationship with front-of-house staff and ensuring a positive experience for customers.
• Work with management in providing information for assessments of kitchen staff and to maintain positive employee morale.
What We’re Looking For
• 5+ years experience as a chef (At least 1-2 years experience as Head Chef/Sous Chef)
• Passion for crafting memorable food to pair with our excellent variety of Lervig brews
• Strong and positive leadership with the ability to manage a small team of chefs and work closely with general management day to day
• Flexibility and agility in an, at times demanding environment
• An attitude that genuinely strives to create the best experience for our guests
• Collaborative and team oriented mindset
